CVPP Ltd taking up three power projects early next year: M Y Khan | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, June 28: Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd (CVPPL) is taking up three power projects in Kishtwar. The projects namely Pakaldul having 1000 MWs, Kwar with 520 MWs and Kiru 600 MWs of power capacity. The projects would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 15000 crore. This was stated by the chairman CVPP Ltd., M Y Khan while addressing a press conference here today. Khan said the work on Pakaldul Project is likely to be taken up in early next year as the project has been cleared from various quarters including environment and ecology. He said this project has lot of tunnels and bridges, adding that steel bridges would be constructed to decrease the completion period of the project from 7 to 6 years. He said the 600 MWs Kiru Project would take four years to complete. He said the work on the another Kwar Project will also be taken in hand simultaneously. The Chairman said that out of 7000 persons, 80 percent persons of Jammu and Kashmir would be provided employment of which 1000 persons will get direct employment. Khan said that Jammu and Kashmir has a vast hydel potential which would be harnessed to make the Jammu and Kashmir state not only self sufficient but a surplus power state. He said only Chenab has potential of generating of 10000 MWs of power. The Chairman expressed confidence that these projects would be highly profitable and said J&K would be power surplus by 2016. He said all out efforts would be put in to complete these projects within the stipulated time and there will be no power shortage in the state. SC Gupta, MD and General Manager, S K Raina were also present on the occasion.
