KPs apprehensions on rise about return formula, warn fringe elements against hobnobbing with Govt | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 28: With some Kashmiri Pandit organizations hobnobbing with the government on the symbolic return formula of the community to Valley, the majority of its members are opposed to the move and term it a sell out plan. According to sources there is a brewing resentment among the community against all those fringe organisations and elements in the community who for their personnel benefits are playing with the larger interests of Kashmiri Pandits to please their bosses in Government. Sources said as some KP organizations and NGOs are on the move to set the return formula of the government in motion by organization the interactive sessions of the community with the ministers and also that with Chief Minister in this regard has been viewed seriously by the majority of the community. Sources said that there is total division in the community against this move and they term the introduction of employment package last year was a process meant to set the return formula in force. The community is seriously thinking to take on such elements who are hell bent to play with its future by playing in the hands of government as well as separatists, sources added. Sources said the well meaning persons in the community have already launched a door to door campaign against those fringe elements and started apprising the community members about the repercussions of such return move. Such corner meetings are not being held in Delhi, Chandigarh, and Bangalore but Jammu also while over 50 percent of the displaced Pandits are putting up at present, sources added. Sources said there is a total rethinking among the community on the return formula and 75 percent of its members favour the homeland or resettlement at one place. They are totally opposed to return to their original habitations in the given situation in the Valley as the majority of the community fells that nothing has changed in Kashmir for them on ground. Rejecting the claims of the Government that there was a discernible change in Kashmir and the situation has totally returned to normalcy, they have termed the present lull in the Valley a temporary phase in view of the US attack on Taliban and Alqueda in Pakistan. Fearing trouble the terrorists and their harbourers have chosen to remain calm in Kashmir for the time being and this can't be described as a change in the ground situation. They, while recalling the days of 1989 and 90 when minorities were forced to flee from the Valley by gun tottering militants, said that such a situation can take place at any time in future as the Pandits have been facing this turmoil since 1931. During the corner meetings in various Parts of the country the KP youth and some well meaning persons of the community have decided visit all those cities and towns in country where the pandits are putting up to apprise them against the designs of the vested interests within community. Criticizing the return formula and role of these fringe organizations, they have said merely visit of tourists can't depict the change in ground situation as a tourist visits for some days and returns while the case of the return of the community is altogether different as it has to go to settle their once for all and for this purpose a complete congenial atmosphere is needed. However during these meetings the traditional leadership of the community has been also taken to task for their failure in forging a united Front to fight for the cause of the community. Their failure to come on a common platform is one of the main reasons that these fringe elements have taken an opportunity to mislead the community is also a growing opinion among the community. By proving mere 1700 jobs to community has its all problems been solved. Has Government constituted a Commission to probe the cause of mass exodus in 1989-90, the killers of hundreds of Pandits are roaming in Valley freely and it is unfortunate that some vested elements are signing the agreement with the Government on the fate of the community. Such a move will play with the future of hundreds of displaced youth getting the admission in professional colleges all over the country every year besides hitting the economic prospectus of the community as majority of the people have sold heir land in distress and business establishments in distress. |
