| A JU professor who has not taken classes for 4 yrs | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 28: He is a professor in economics department of Jammu University (JU) without any class to take and research work to promote.
For the last four years, he has "failed" to discharge his primary duty of imparting education to students and virtually made no contribution to the progress of academics in JU. Despite that he
enjoys all the privileges of a professor.
Sounds incredible but it is true. Dhian Singh Bhau was appointed economics lecturer in JU's directorate of distance education. Since 2007, he has not taken any class, according to reliable JU sources.
He was promoted as professor in 2008. Interestingly, he is not doing any research work in economics. Also, he is not guide to any of the Ph.D. scholars in his subject. The JU authorities have
miserably failed to take any notice of it.
He has now been given the charge of JU's director, sports and physical education even as he is not eligible for it. When he was handed over the charge, he was told that it was in addition to his existing duties. But, no one at the campus knows about his actual duty.
When contacted, Prof Bhau said university authorities had put a lot of burden on his shoulders by giving him the additional responsibility of directorate of sports and physical education.
Because of this, he was not able to concentrate on his basic duty, he claimed.
