Justice to all benchmark of my Government: Omar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, June 29: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Wednesday said that justice to all and equitable development in the State is his Government’s benchmark. He said fast tract progress of backward areas is focal point in the State’s policy planning. Talking to various deputations at ‘Awami Mulakat’ here the Chief Minister said that reaching out to people in every region and sub-region to address the development needs is basic necessity for holistic and integrated development. “My Government has flagged this aspect as one of the most important concerns”, he said adding that the regular public contact has been made a permanent feature in the day-to-day official fixtures of the Government and the administration. Chief Minister said that his Government would give added attention to the faster development of backward and under developed areas which have remained out of the development purview in the past. He said decentralization of powers and involvement of grass root representatives in the development process are initiatives in this direction. Omar Abdullah said that his Government has concentrated attention on five important sectors of power, road communication, water supply, health and education while other sectors are receiving due focus to ensure holistic development in the State. He said various measures have been taken to make development policy comprehensive, balanced and equitable all across the State. “Our aim is to come up to the expectations of people and deliver efficiently”, he said adding that economic prosperity of far-flung and backward pockets has also been flagged as priority area. As many as 54 deputations and over 1500 individuals today met the Chief Minister during Awami Mulakat here and presented him memoranda of demands pertaining to the community development and of personal nature. The Chief Minister heard the deputations patiently. Responding to the matters of urgent importance, he issued on-spot orders while the others were forwarded to the concerned quarters for early necessary action.
