Akhoon for accelerating pace on power projects | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JUNE 29:
Receiving power station at Kargil is nearing completion and is likely to be commissioned in August this year. It was revealed at a joint meeting of officers of PDD and NHPC convened to review progress of under construction of power projects in Kargil with Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon in chair. The meeting was informed that out of 8 sanctioned power projects under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidutikaran Yojna (RGGVY), work is apace on 5 projects at Kargil, Sankoo, Granthem, Khajral and Sheregul while work on remaining projects of Drass, Pankhar and Batalic will be taken in hand in 2nd phase. Addressing the meeting, Akhoon stressed on the executing agency to speed up the work so that the un-electrified areas of the Kargil district are electrified properly. He asked them to utilize quality material on these projects for long duration of projects. The meeting was attended by MLC, Aga Sayed Ahmad Rizvi, Commissioner Secretary PDD, Basharat Ahmad Dhar, Executive Directors NHPC, Jatinder Singh and S. C. Singh, Chief Engineer (RE) NHPC, Amitabh Srivastav, General Manager Projects, S.K. Sharma, Manager Wagoora, Shafat Ahmad, Executive Engineer PDD, Kargil, Hasan Mohammad and Assistant Executive Engineer, Altaf Hussain.
