&K Bank organizes Camp for Panchs and Sarpanchs at Tral | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, June 28:
To make the newly elected Panchs and Sarpanchs aware about basic financial products and services available at the bank, the J&K Bank organized a first of its kind awareness camp in Block Tral. People attended the camp in large numbers that included women and unemployed youth of the area. Held under the aegis of Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling Center (South Zone), the one-day Counseling Camp was organized in collaboration with Rural Development Department. The idea behind the initiative was to educate the grass root level representatives about the role of banks in socio-economic development of their panchayat halqas. The camp witnessed comprehensive interactions of the panchs and sarpanchs with various senior Block level government functionaries and bank officials. Speaking on the occasion, the Lead Bank officer (Pulwama), G R Kumar gave a detailed overview of the various credit products of banks especially those of J&K Bank. He informed the participants about various schemes available with the bank for the rural entrepreneurs. He urged upon the elected representatives to come forward and avail the benefits of various bankable schemes from Central and State governments for poverty alleviation in their halqas. Speaking on the occasion, Block Development Officer (BDO) Tral urged the participants to avail benefits of banking for integrated development of their Halqas. While elaborating the importance of banking in enhancing livelihoods and creating employment avenues, he urged upon the sarpanchs to disseminate the information to their respective constituents. Also present on the occasion, the Sheep Development Officer, Tral made an impassioned appeal to the youth to work hard and explore sources of livelihood beyond government jobs.
