| Rs.7 lakh embezzlement case | | |

Central Bureau of Investigation/ Anticorruption Bureau Jammu on the complaint of Superintendent of Post Offices Udhampur Division has registered a case against Mohd Shafi Shan, Branch Post-Master Gool District Udhampur u/s 409/477-A RPC r/w section 5(2) r/w 5(1) (c) of J&K PC Act 2006.
According to the complaint the accused Mohd Safi Shan, Branch Post-Master Gool accepted money from public in lieu of telephone bills on various dates and issued receipts to public, but did not account for the amount collected to Government accounts. This practice continued for few months when on September 29, 2006, he again issued TRC receipts in one day from different TRC receipt books and sent one list to its account office Ramban Post-Office but on checking cash on October 6, 2006 by the Sub-Divisional Inspector of Post Offices Batote, Rs 7, 37, 799/- found embezzled by him and prayed for investigation of the case and registered FIR. The CBI/ACB registered FIR and investigation entrusted to K L Raina Additional SP CBI Jammu.
