PDP holds protest against price rise, corruption | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 29: Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) today held a massive demonstration against corruption in the administration and hike in the prices of the essential commodities. Party asked the state government to withdraw taxes on some essential items to give relief to the common masses who are facing hardship due to sky rocketing prices of the essential commodities. Party also flayed the National Conference led state government for its failure to check corruption. A large number of PDP activists took out a massive mass protest rally against the price hike of the essential commodities, corruption in the state government. Addressing the party workers, PDP leaders said that in the recent few months the price hike became a big issue as the prices of the all essential commodities increases like anything making life unbearable for the consumers. They rued the government has failed to control the prices of the essential commodities and common people are facing hardship due hike in the prices. PDP leaders asked the state government to take example of the some other states and withdraw taxes on some essential commodities. Coming down heavily on state government for its failure to control corruption, PDP leaders said that on the one hand common masses are finding it difficult to earn their livelihood due to hike in the prices of essential commodities while on the other hand corruption has increased miseries of the common masses. PDP leaders termed Omar Abdullah led regime as worst ever corrupt government in Jammu and Kashmir. They further said that this regime has been legalizing corruption by eroding the institutions which were constituted to check corruption. They asserted that PDP would expose anti-poor policies of this regime. Rangil Singh, Trilok Singh Bajwa, Balbir Singh, Ved Mahajan, Falail Singh, Jagjit Singh Jagga and others participated besides addressed the demonstration.
