JAMMU, June 29: A fake sadhu and his Kashmir-based associate were
today apprehended by police at Shalamar crossing here along with
one kilogram of charas. Acting on a tip-off that a smuggler from Kashmir was to deliver a
charas consignment to a fake sadhu on Shalamar road, city police
station cops fanned out in the area in civvies. Police sources said when the cops spotted a man delivering a bag to
a sadhu, they caught hold of both of them and found one kilogram
charas in the bag. They were then arrested and whisked away to the police station.
They were identified as Rakesh Giri of Udhampur and Mohammad Ashraf
of Bijbihara. Ashraf had taken a room on rent at Narwal. Sources said the room's
search later led cops to the recovery of half kilogram charas. A total of 1.5 kg charas was recovered from them, the sources
