Punjab Police enter semis of Martyrs Football | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, June 30: Outplaying hosts Jammu and Kashmir Police by three goals to nil, the formidable side of Punjab Police today became the first side to reach the semi-finals of the ongoing 13th J&K Police Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament at Bakshi Stadium, here. Leading by a goal in the first half with Harshdeep Singh netting the ball in the 19th minute, Punjab Police further improved the lead through Harpreet Singh (50th) and Vijay Kumar (87th) after the breather. Earlier, in another match played at Bakshi Stadium, the local departmental team of Food and Supplies made it to the quarterfinal stages defeating Railway Protection Force (RPF) by a solitary goal. Goalless in the first half of the play, Food and Supplies made the all important goal in the 62nd minute through Altaf Rashid. Now, Food and Supplies shall take on Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala in the quarterfinals to be played tomorrow at 3 pm at Bakshi Stadium. FIXTURE: (Quarterfinals) The RCF Kapurthala shall meet Food and Supplies at 3 pm, followed by the second match between Iqbal Sports and J&K Bank at 5 pm at Bakshi Stadium tomorrow.
