| RR organises blood donation camp | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 30:
RR Batallion at Kalakot dedicated its 8th Raising Day to the civil population in the area by organizing a blood donation camp.
120 Officers and Troops besides 20 civilians attended the blood donation camp. The camp turned out to be largest blood donation camp in the history of Rajouri District. Total no of donors in the camp was more than twice the maximum strength ever recorded in a blood donation camp, in Rajouri District. Also, the unit took the initiative of starting a Plantation drive and plans to subsequently plant 2000 saplings to increase the green cover in the adjoining areas. Prominent personalities of The Civil administration including Tehsildar Kalakot, Md Rafiq Mughal, SHO Kalakot, Md Bashir and BMO Kalakot, Dr Suresh Gupta, attended the blood donation camp.
The camp was conducted by a Joint medical team of the unit and medical staff under Dr Mitu Sharma and Pradeep Khajuria from Govt Medical College , Jammu. All the representatives from Civil administration recognized the importance of Army operations in bringing the normalcy in the area and appreciated the relentless effort of the Army in maintaining peace and tranquility in the area.
BMO, Dr Suresh Gupta, appreciated the blood donation camp organised by Army.
“Army has taken up this noble cause which could save a number of innocent lives in remote areas and would make people more responsible towards the society as it brings in a sense of social activism amongst the donors,” he said.
