NSF demands local VC for CU-J, burns effigy of govt | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 30: National Secular Forum (NSF) held a protest demonstration against the state government and burnt its effigy demanding immediate appointment of local Vice Chancellor (VC) for Central University (CU). Addressing the gathering NSF state president, Vikas Sharma said that Jammu and Ladakh have been continuously ignored by the UPA-government since it came into power. He stated that all over the country, the Central universities have started their academic session, whereas the political issue over the Central University of Jammu was still going on. The session of Jammu Central University has already gone late by one year while the other central universities which were announced in the month of February 2009 have completed their one session. He further said that NSF also appeals to all the MP, MLA and Minister of Jammu to help in functioning of the Centre University in Jammu it is their duty to raise the voice of Jammu and fight for the cause of Jammu region. NSF activists said that we have already wasted one session of CUJ, the great loss to the students’ community. NSF also appealed to the UPA government to appoint the VC of CU as soon as possible and warned that if central government fails to appoint local VC for CU-J, then it will launch a mass agitation.
