| "Boys and girls Syndrome' is a mental or psychological ailment or physical disorder among teenagers between the age group 12-16. This entirely new disorder is rapidly gaining ground in India particularly metropolitan cities and urban areas where co-education is the prevalent system of schooling, and where ample opportunities for teens to mix together before, during and after the school hour is maximum.
Syndrome means, according to the Merriam Webster Dictionary a group of signs and symptoms that occur together and characterize particular abnormality or a set of concurrent things (as emotions or actions) that usually form an identifiable pattern. Hence a day and girl syndrome; is the name of a disorder in which teenager suffer from acute mental and physical disorder. It occurs in those teenager who love the opposite sex without getting the least response or who are rejected in love or the person who he or she loves not only avoids him or her but Loves someone else in front of his or her sight. This situation amounts to vehement jealousy, and if prolonged turns into violent behaviour, rage and convulsions.
The obvious symptoms among the suffers as shown in TV Footage are : violent convulsions, continuous shivering or body shaking or head rolling, stomach disorder or mental imbalance, ambiguous talks, forgetfulness etc. And the prolonged conditions may lead to life-long mental disorder. The suffer shows signs of extreme violent outrage because of the utter failure either in getting the desired Love or being, into some other serious physical illness.
While some of them who are more vocal can turn out to be tragic poets, scores of such affected lots shall be silent sufferers whose studies might be at the Lowest, ebb, and there are strong possibilities and thy shall be utter failures in life. Majority of patients suffering from 'Boys and Girls' syndrome will surely be Labelled as stereotyped fellows and might end up in acute depression and then suicide.
However, like any Bollywood hero the most bold and extrovert might go for adventurous pursuit and molestation and rapes might increase to an alarming level. Instead of weeping like 'Devdas' what the modern teenager individual at might prefer will be to have the desired object by hook or by crook.
In US as well as other Western Societies, the situation is alarming where violent behaviors among teenager have been the primary concern of the school authorities where serial shootings and killings of students by fellow students have resulted in many innocent deaths. In India, it is no less serious where daily interaction with opposite sex might lead to an illusion of love and affair.
Teenager years are dangerously prone to many ill effects on the life of an individual if such environment is prevalent in any society. Instead of a strong and disciplined who will be the future Leader of nation, many a love lorn Romeos will fill the social class in this country who will be weak in character and will power. Such lots will have longer session of gossips with opposite sex, another trend which shall result in a feeble character is the making.
This way teenager adopt the dress codes and manners more suited to the opposite sex e.g. boys will behave, dress and talk like girls and vice versa.

In trend is fast catching up in developing countries including India where adoption of modern culture especially the western has become the order of the day. And the concept of Human Rights and freedom has provided a sense of individual liberty which transcends all barriers of human values.
There are factors governing the mind set of this generation: television, films, internet and porn magazines easily available to young hands, and growing mind is more-preoccupied with matter like Love and sex. Hardly any film or TV serial made in India is not about love, sex and illicit affairs, and the way boys and girls are presented draws ample curiosity among undeveloped minds. Instead of reading or knowing about the heroics deeds of great personalities who had made work of human history, this co-educated generation seem more interested n chatting either face to face with opposite sex or in the cyber café.
Computes have a major role in shaping up the young minds. Unlike their ancient counter part, the new generation mails all the stuffs of his or her likes to whomsoever he or she pleases. Hence, the easy communication has made it quite comfortable means for opening the heart out before anyone.
Unlike the earlier trends where social mixing had been restricted or considered a taboo, modern society has opened up, like globalizing, the gates of mixing together without an eyebrow being raised, choice and fashion have added fuel to the fire.
A nation has to pay the price, for the its future lies in the hands of the generation that are to take over, and if that generation is not capable of handling himself or herself, how can he or she handle the professional pressure later in life.
Private coaching institutes contribute to this trend of free mixing via 'Spoken English Course' or 'Personality Development' or hoards or other such courses which give more time to the teenager for free interaction. While institutions have commercial purpose behind creating a glamour within the premises which is hardly possible in homely milieu. It is high time we gave a serious thought to this new but alarming social ill which, if neglected, might turn into a major problem in coming years.
