Interlocutors to submit composite report by Oct | | | Srinagar, July 1 (KNS): Chief interlocutor, Dilip padgonkar Friday said that they would submit composite report to the Central Government by October 2011, when one year term of the interlocutors on Kashmir will end. Talking to KNS Padgonkar said that Kashmir was a complicated issue and serious steps needed to be taken to resolve it. He said a composite report on Kashmir over political, social and economical aspects will be submitted to the centre by the end of October. “The social, political and economical conditions of Kashmiris will be portrayed in the report to give voice to every section of the society,” he said. Padgonkar said that the political settlement was in the hands of Centre. “We are here only to asses the situation and talk to every section. The overall political settlement is in the hands of central government,” he said. “To find a solution to the longstanding Kashmir dispute it is necessary to take serious steps,” he said and added ‘Kashmir is a complicated issue.’ He said before any decision could be taken “it is necessary to think over it seriously.” “Finding a solution might take some time. Decision in haste would be a futile exercise,” he said. Padgonkar said that Kashmiris should be allowed to protest peacefully. “It is the right of every person to protest peacefully in a democratic set up and Kashmiris should be allowed to do so,” he added. He declined to comment on M M Ansari’s claims that interlocutors have submitted interim report to New Delhi. “I can’t comment on it. But we can’t make the contours of our report public yet. It is central government which will take the final decision after we submit the report,” he added.
