3 held selling Beacon fuel
7/2/2011 1:54:22 AM

Srinagar, July 1: Police on Thursday evening arrested three people and seized a vehicle of Beacon on the allegations of selling government fuel in market in Pattan area of north Kashmir.
Sources said the arrested trio are employees of Project Beacon and were selling the official diesel in the market.
“The selling of fuel by Beacon employees in the area is a routine as work on four lanning of Srinagar-Baramulla Highway is on,” sources said.
“The petrol pump owners of the area have in past complained that there business was suffering as Beacon employees were selling the fuel at cheaper rates. It is never possible that lower level employees can sell the fuel without consent of their superiors. It is a nexus and needs a thorough probe,” they added.
When contacted SHO Pattan asked KNS to contact his superior Rahul Malik for details.
Malik confirmed to KNS that one vehicle of the Beacon had been seized and some arrests made. However, he didn’t divulge full details.
