| CAPD challans 38 defaulters, realizes Rs 12,000 fine | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, JULY 01- A team of CA&PD conducted surprise check of various markets in Udhampur town and its adjoining areas to keep a check on overcharging under quality and weighing of several items of essential commodities by local traders during ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, 2011 .
A special squad under the supervision of Assistant Director CA&PD Department, Udhampur, S. Rajinder Singh, Inspector Municipal Council, Mr. Deepak Kumar, Tehsil Supply Officer, Udhampur, Mr. Vishnoo Dutt and AC legal Metrology conducted inspection in Udhampur town and realized a fine of Rs. 12,000/- from the defaulters.
During the checking drive, about 68 establishments were inspected, of which, 38 were challaned by the team.
The local people lauded the team for conducting such an effective drive and assured full cooperation to the department in bringing the defaulters into book.
The shopkeepers were warned not to get involved in any type of black marketing and profiteering, otherwise, strict action under Essential Commodity Act would be initiated against them.
