| Army’s civil military cooperation in protection of environment | | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, July 1: Army is known for its civil military cooperation and participative activities towards protection of environment as well as beautification of cantonments and towns.
Between Jan and May this year there have been three meetings between Army and Civil administration at the level of sub area Commander and Deputy Commissioner, Gurdaspur in which Army has emphasized upon beautification of the town and improving the general outlook.
In addition there has been large number of meetings at the functional level between SDM Pathankot RPS Walia and Administrative Commandant. In pursuance of the same the Dhruva Park has been renovated, lighted giving a great facelift and new look and dedicated to the citizens ofPathankot.
The bunds on UBDC canal are being beautified at a very rapid pace. A facelift has been given by Army to Tank Chowk which is gateway to Pathankot.
Similarly there is a concerted drive to improve Dhar Area, Dhar Chowk, Chakki Parash Chowk and Simbal Chowk. Eminent business houses like Sukhjinder Group of Colleges, Gurdaspur, Silver Oaks Pvt ltd, Chitpurni Education Society and Sai Institute are also participating in the process.
