Chaman seeks account of spending on sewerage system | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 1: Expressing his indignation over the misconceived and ill-planed manner of implementation of introducing sewerage system in the Capital City of Jammu the former Union Minister and MLA, Chaman Lal Gupta has demanded an inquiry into the outcome of huge spendings over the years for introducing much claimed schemes of development. After touring certain areas of his Jammu West Constituency Prof. Gupta regretted that spendings of hundreds of crores for introducing sewerage system and make this city neat and clean have resulted in more problems than any good to the people. This was because lack of proper planning and little co-ordination amongst various departments engaged in the developmental activities. The roads and lanes were dug to lay the huge pipes costing many crores of rupees but the damaged roads and lanes at many places still remain to be repaired. The rainy season has set in but because of poor planning and hardly any vision a hell like situation is createdbecause of there being no proper drainage of the rain waters and virtually almost all the nallahs are over flooded with water, he added and said that it was highly deplorable that even after repeatedly drawing attention of the authorities no urgency is being felt to mitigate the problems facing the people.
