250 students sent to skill improvement training | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 1: As part of the skill development programme, 250 ITI students hailing from different districts of Jammu division have been sent to Chandigarh, Hissar and Jamuna nagar for skill improvement training. Most of them belong to Mendhar, Ramban, Udhampur, Jammu and Samba have been selected under the initiative taken by the government to provide quality technical training to the youth. These short term course are in banking and accounting, security guard, basic electrical operation of X-ray machine and other courses. The training will be provided free of cost and all the expenses of boarding, lodging, bus fare will be borne by the state government through Directorate of Technical Education Jammu and Kashmir. ITI Jammu principal M.I Kohli flagged off the buses and while speaking on the occasion said that this way youth from the state particularly from rural and far-flung areas of the state will get exposure at national level. Kohli said that more such trips would be organised so that those getting training in the ITIs are able get employment. It is pertinent to mention here that skill development programme was initiated by the government about two years back with a view to create a trained manpower in Jammu and Kashmir.
