| Manvi secures top slot in Western Song competition | | |

Under the ongoing Display Your Talent Contest 2006-07, Western Song competition was held at Jammu University here today.
Manvi Gupta from Acharya Sri Chandra College of Medical Sciences was adjudged first in the Western Vocal Solo Competition organize by Dept. of Students Welfare, JU. Shivani Koul from GWC, Parade and Simmi Rajan From GWC, Gandhinagar secured second and third prize respt. Vinca Kapoor from Priyadarshani Instt. of Management and Sciemces, Ankush Manhas From KC Law College and Tajinder Sethi from SPMR College of Commerce, were awarded the certificates of Merits. Manvi mesmerized the audiemce with her number “Power of Love” Shivani forced the audience to dance on the beats with his foot tapping number “Desert Rose” and Simmi presented the English number “Forever”.
In the Western Group Song competition GWC, Parade clinched first prize whereas the team from GWC, Gandhinagar.
Digvijay Singh, Naresh Sharma and Sunil Sharma were among the adjudicators.
Meanwhile the ABVP activists disturbed the programme by raising slogans.
The prizes to the second and third prize winners of various Fine Arts, Literary and Music Events were also distributed by Prof. N.R. Sharma, Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee and P.S. Pathania, DSW and in his address to the participants, he expressed his gratitude to Heads of the Colleges and all those associated with cultural council for acti9ve participation in events.
Among others who were present on the occasion Dhain Singh Bhau, Convener Security, Shohab Inyat Malik Asstt. DSW, Dr. R.K. Ganjoo, Dr. Vishav Raksha, Amita Malhotra, Shahnawaz, Mukti Talwar, Lovely Talwar, etc.
