JMC continues drive against defaulters | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, July 1: Under instructions from Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jammu S.C. Sawheny, the Health Officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith team of food inspectors continued drive to check the quality of food items especially in view of onging Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra and inspected about 90 food establishments like milk & milk products shops, cooked food dhabas, resturants, fruit juice shops, tea stalls, sweet shops, bakery shops, cut fruits reharies, ice cream shops, sugarcane juice reharies, jaljeera reharies etc. in the areas of Digiana, Gangyal, Satwari, Shatri Nagar, Bhagwati Nagar, Puran Nagar, Yatri Bhawan etc. During the inspection 17 defaulters were booked under the provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000.
An amount of Rs. 4100 was charged as fine from the defaulters and about 35 kgs of sweets, stale cooked food, ice cream which were not fit for human consumption were destroyed on spot.
The team also seized polythene carry bags from various food establishments / other out lets who were using the polythene carry bags in these areas.
Further, all the food establishment owners are strictly warned to adhere to the terms and conditions of PFA licenses and keep their premises neat and clean for ensuring supply of pure & good quality of food items to the customers.
