Students protest closure of Evening colleges | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 1: The students of the Evening Colleges of Jammu region who were refused by the college authorities for admission in the evening shift under the banner of National Panthers Students Union (NPSU) today held a massive protest demonstration at Shahidi Sthal outside GGM Science College Hundreds of students of the Evening Colleges gathered at GGM Science College to hold the protest demonstration against the government order for the closure of the evening Colleges in Jammu region. The protesting students including females raised the anti-government slogans. Addressing the gathering Sahil Choudhary, NPSU leader, who was leading the protest, said that NPSU will not allow state government to play with the future of thousands of the students who studying in the Evening Colleges of Jammu region. He said that its very unfortunate that the state government issued the order for the closure of the evening colleges in the jammu region without any solid ground. Sahil further said that the state government is hell bent to spoil the future of the students of the jammu region by torturing them again and again in each and every sphere. Sakeena Akhtar, a student of Evening College, talking to the media persons told that majority of the students of the Evening colleges belong to the week and poor families who are continuing their studies in these colleges while doing part time jobs for the livelihood of their respective families. She said that inspite of encouraging these type of students, state government is snatching even this single opportunity from these students for their studies. Ashutosh Sharma, another NPSU leader and Vikram Singh, student of Evening college, lambasted the state government for this unfair order and demanded immediate revocation of this order.
