Bajwa flays coalition for not solving farmers’ problems | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT R S Pura, July 1: Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) today regretted that the present government headed by National Conference (NC) has failed to solve the problems being faced by the farming community of the State. Addressing monthly meeting of the party workers at R S Pura, former Rajya Sabha member Trilok Singh Bajwa took the coalition regime to task for for adopting lackluster approach towards the burning problems of the farmers. He said that farmers are facing hardship because this year the authorities have committed a big fraud in the name of de-silting the Ranbir Canal which is life line of the farmers of Jammu district. He said that de-silting has been conducted only on papers and amount sanctioned for de-silting was pocketed by the officers. Pointing towards the hardship being faced by the farming community, he shifted blamed on the state government for the non availability of water and worst ever power crises in the State. He further pointed towards non availability of water in the canals especially in the tail ends due to failure of the government to properly conduct de-silting of the canals. He further regretted that despite repeated demands of the farmers, government has failed to provide seeds and fertilizers in time. Taking a dig at coalition regime, Bajwa pointed out that failure of the authorities to give compensation to the farmers affected by the hailstorms speaks about non serious attitude of the state government towards solving problems of the masses. Choudhary Chuni Lal, Chatter Saini, Sartaj Singh Ladda, Gurmeet Singh Bajwa and others also addressed the meeting in which a newly elected Sarpanch Som Nath Bhagat joined PDP.
