Teachers call it a wrong practice; blames Principal
JU snubbed while MAM College facilitating sale of Affidavits in campus
7/2/2011 2:41:04 AM
-------------------------------------------------

JAMMU, July 1: Recently Jammu University authorities had apprehended two agents for selling readymade Affidavits to the admission seekers and handed them over to police, but the administration of Government MAM College is doing exactly opposite job. The agents nabbed by JU guard were sitting outside the campus, but in MAM College affidavits are being sold inside the college building.
The persons arrested by police on the complaint of JU authorities had been booked by Gandhi Nagar police under Section 420. But, the Principal of MAM College didn’t learn any lesson and went a step ahead by authorizing the Affidavit sellers to carry on their business inside the college building. Interestingly, the rate of Affidavit has been fixed at Rs 45 and the same could be easily had at the rate of Rs 30 or 35 from outside.
Some of the college teachers, on the condition of anonymity, disclosed that it was a wrong practice and institution had no role in facilitating Affidavits to the admission seekers. Had it been their duty, the Higher Education Department had notified the same to all the College Principals so as to facilitate the same to the students, they added. The principal has been doing so at his own which is improper, they alleged.
When contacted, Principal of the College Dr Ajit Angral said the decision to allow the sale of Affidavits was taken by the Admission Committee and he had nothing to do with it. He, however, added that if the practice was not followed by other colleges owing to Government directions then they would stop the same.
Interestingly, Director Colleges (Higher Education Department) Dr Sham Lal Gupta when contacted for comment gave a lame excuse that the concerned authorities might have called the affidavit sellers to help the students.
