Separatist leaders in Valley on main stream path | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JULY 1: Feeling isolated after the growing mass resentment against the violence and gun culture the separatist leaders in Kashmir are left with no alternative except to chose the same path which the majority opinion wants them to tread. Instead of talking of separatism and secessionism the separatist leadership in Valley have decided to enter the main stream politics and tread on the same path which has been chosen by the traditional politicians of the Valley like the leaders of National Conference (NC), Congress and Peoples Democratic Party(PDP). The growing resentment among the masses against the separatism, gun culture and over 21 year long turmoil which led to their scars instead of ameliorating their lot coupled with anti terrorism stand taken by US and its recent attacks on Bin laden and Alqueada terrorists in Pakistan has been one of the compelling factor for the separatist leadership to change their mind set. According to sources the separatist leaders from Syed Ali Ahah Geelani to Prof Abdul Gani, Moulvi Umer Farooq and Yasin Malik are now losing no moment in denouncing the violence and advocating for restoration of peace in the Valley. Posing like the great champions of peace, these separatist leaders have not only welcomed the Kashmiri Pandit yatris at holy Kheer Bhawani temple last month but also broken all previous records by welcoming the pilgrims of holy Amarnath this year. Seeing the changing mood of the people the hardliner Syed ali Shah Geelani who ruled the roost during the two decade long turmoil in Valley and was always talking tough rough when it comes holding of negotiations with Government of India has surprised every one when he visited the colonies of newly recruited KP youth in Mattan and Vessu in South Kashmir district of Anantnag and later appealed the masses to cooperate in smooth passage of this year’s Amarnath yatra. Geelani changing stand on the issue forced the other separatist leaders like those of JKLF to follow the suit and they without losing any movement visited Kheer Bhawani to welcome the KP pilgrims who visited the holy shrine of Mata Kheer Bhawani last month. This changing stance of separatist leaders has drawn a flak with people who lost their near and dears in turmoil want that they be dealt under law of the land for promoting violence and gun culture in the state. ``They are responsible for the killing of thousands of Kashmiris during last 20 year long turmoil besides the huge destruction and devastation’’, said Mohammed Akbar Hajam a barber in down town . They exploited the sentiments of people during this period and were responsible for misleading the youth who went to arms training to Pakistan. The Government should show no leniency to them but dealt under the law of land as the masses in Valley has since rejected them, he added.
