CM, two ministers fail to turn up in KPs convention | 'Betrayal' or 'sabotage' theory reason for absence....? | | Early Times Report Jammu: Youth wing of All India Kashmiri Samaj, an organisation of Kashmiri Pandits which was upbeat about the convention it had organised today, feels betrayed as the 'guests' from the state government including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah did not turn up till late in the evening. The venue of the function which was 'spruced up' with all nieceties of requisite decorum and protocol, besides gala security arranagements, was abuzz with activity and huge participation of the community members, remained conspicuous with the absence of the guest dignitaries till it concluded. "It is a betrayal with the community and youth in particular who were aspiring strongly about yound Chief Minister's presence in the convention", said one of the leaders ,reflecting annoyance and resnetment as to why CM despite having given consent 'betrayed' the organisation in the last hour. "The CM was in Jammu ....he had accepted our invitation to be the chief guest long back......we fail to understand what was the compulsion that prevenetd him to come ", said another functionary of the organisation. While the leaders of the organisation did not hesitate to call it as 'betrayal' by the government, there are some who feel CM's participation was sabotaged by few leaders from within the community. "We know what are the factors and who cumulatively are responsible for this.....we will expose them soon", said RK Bhat leader of the YAIKS. The organisation feels bitter about the fact that there was complete 'boycot' from all the three dignatries, two cabinet ministers apart from CM. They included Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla and Education Minister Peerzada Mohammad Syed who despite being in Jammu did not make it to convention. What made the scene more embarrassing for the organisers was the three empty chairs in row on the dais with their name plates in front , which remained vacant till the function culminated. According to organisers till late last night everything was final about CM's partcipation with even the security personnel having done their job of checking up the venue from their point of view two days before, a mandatory exercise in the functions attended by CM. "The security authorities okayed everything.........and we were given go ahead signal ", said one of the funtionaries adding that it was late last night they got a call from personal staff of the CM that he would not be able to attend the function and postpone it . However, all preparations in place as it were, the organisers contended and argued it was not possible as the cards stood distributed and other preparations could not be cancelled at that point. According to organisers , the personal staff did not rule out completely the inability of CM to attend the function which is why they kept the arranagements intact, only to get disappointment by the evening. What were the reasons on account of which the CM and other ministers failed to turn up may remain a 'mystery' but on the face of it the larger picture now presented is 'betrayal' on one hand and 'sabotage' on the other . Which one is true....?
