| Relief distributed to fire sufferers of Nawhatta | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, July 2: On the instructions of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, relief material from Divisional Disaster Management Store was distributed by the Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Abdul Majid Wani to the fire sufferers of Nawhatta.
A massive fire had broken out Saturday morning at Nawhatta, opposite the world famous Jamia Majid, which engulfed 17 residential houses and affected 21 families. Due to the timely action by Fire Services the adjoining houses were saved from destruction. The Fire fighting was personally monitored by Joint Director, Fire Services, RT Dubey.
The immediate relief distributed included 50 Dunlop mattress, 120 Kapak sleeping bags and 120 small carpets of size 5’x8’.
Earlier Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mehraj Ahmed Kakroo also inspected the site and gave instructions to the Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar for completing the loss assessment, so that relief under rules can be provided.
The relief material was distributed on spot by the officers, in presence of the locals, the Numberdar, Masjid committee and Shopkeepers Association.
