Mutual aid fire mock drill at Jammu airfield | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu: , July 2: Air Force Jammu Airfield is a joint user airfield where in addition to military aircraft of Air Force and Army all major civil operators and various non schedule operators including state government operate on daily basis. The contingency of handling a situation where civil aircraft requires rescue and fire fighting services cannot be ruled out. For handling such a situation, the knowledge gained from creating nearly actual simulated situation and then tackling it is of immense value. The agencies required to handle live situations include Air Force Jammu and civil fire department agencies. In order to check and implement the pre-decided procedures Air Force ATC organised a mock drill where in the civil fire department also participated. The exercise was undertaken to achieve higher standard of professionalism which is set forth as one of the Key Result Area by Air Officer Commanding AF Stn Jammu Air Cmde Nitin Sathe. The exercise was augmented by the presence of civil fire fighters under Mr SC Verma of State Fire Dept. The presence of Senior ATC Officer, Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Operations Officer of Air Force Satwari Jammu ensured that Jammu airfield is geared up to face any eventuality of rescue during an accident of aircraft fire. The lessons learnt in handling the mock drill was discussed by all concerned to prepare themselves for handling any such contingency in an otherwise very flying safe Jammu airfield.
