| ‘NGOs role pivotal for upliftment of women’ | | |

The J&K State Women’s Development Corporation organized an NGO’s meeting here today. The meet was chaired by Secretary Social Welfare Department Shri N.K Verma. Special Secretary, Social Welfare Department, MD SC/ST and OBC Corporation, DSWOs, and 70 NGOs participated in the meet.
The Secretary of the JKWDC Mrs. Shahzada Bano welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries and NGOs. The Managing Director, Dr. Naheed Soz briefed about the schemes being implemented by the Corporation and urged the NGOs to come forward to support Women Development Corporation for the socio-economic upliftment of women. She also laid stress upon NGOs to immediately submit the cases of physically challenged women for bringing them under the ambit of different income generating schemes.
Mr. N.K Verma interacted with the NGOs and assured them that Government will provide full cooperation and support to NGOs in implementing the scheme. Mr. Verma while discussing the problems of women of J&K State said that the women are important part of the society and keeping in view their backwardness, there is a need for the socio-economic upliftment of the women especially in rural areas for which support of the NGOs in vital. He requested NGOs to work hand to hand with the department of the Social Welfare with dedication, honesty and zeal.
NGOs expressed their happiness over the decision taken in the meeting .
