J&K Forest blanks Bank, faces PP in final on July 6 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, July 03: Beating the professional side of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Jammu and Kashmir Forest XI seems upbeat to take on the formidable side of Punjab Police in title clash of the13th J&K Police Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament slated to be held on July six at Bakshi Stadium, here. Earlier, in the second semi-final, played today at full to its capacity, the Bakshi Stadium, here, Forest XI completely dominated the 90-minute game amidst cheering from the local crowd. Leading by a goal in the first half, Forest further improved the score making it 2-0 in after the breather. Shahnawaz netted the ball for first goal in the 11th minute while Ashiq improved the score on board converting a penalty kick into goal in the 79th minute. Now, going by the records, Punjab Police have an upper hand in the title clash. The visiting side has not conceded even a single goal in the last five games played so far in the tournament. Punjab Police defeated Jammu-B 1-0, Arafat Club 7-0, CRFP 2-0, J&K Police (quarterfinal) 3-0 and RCF 1-0. On the other hand, JK Forest has energy and zeal to take on the opponent. Outplaying the professional side and arch rival, J&K Bank in the semi-finals, the men in red from J&K Forest are upbeat and eager to take on the opponent. So, it is going to be an interesting contest between a local team and visiting side at the Bakshi Stadium. Today’s semi-final was witnessed besides others by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Security, Naveen Aggarwal and Inspector General of Police, Armed and IRP, Rouf-ul-Hassan.
