EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAMSU (RAMBAN), July 3: Reiterating resolve of his party to pursue the agenda of peace and development, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that previous PDP-Congress regime had carved out a path of equitable development in the State and had initiated comprehensive policy to connect remotest areas with the main towns by spreading road connectivity.

Addressing a pubic meeting at Ramsu area of Ramban district, Mufti said that during the PDP-Congress regime special emphasised was laid on accelerating developmental activities in backward and neglected areas. He said that a comprehensive policy was formulated for the overall development of the erstwhile Doda district. He especially mentioned towards Sinthantop-Kishtwar road project, Warwan-Kokernag road project and Bhaderwah-Basohli road project to connect these neglected inaccessible areas with the main towns through road connectivity. He said that it was all due to the priority of the previous regime that Sinthantop-Kishtwar project was later included in the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan.

Mufti, however, regretted that the present regime has failed to carry forward development agenda of the previous PDP-Congress government and most of the development projects started by the previous regime are still incomplete.

The former Chief Minister further reminded the gathering that to explore the tourism potential in the erstwhile Doda district, the previous regime had constituted tourism developmental authorities for different regions. He further mentioned towards the comprehensive plan which was formulated for creating tourism infrastructure at Jai Valley of Bhaderwah district.

Pointing towards huge potential of generating power in Doda district, Sayeed strongly demanded that locals should be given priority in the new hydro-electric projects to be started in this belt. “Instead of appointing locals on small petty jobs, the agencies engaged in executing the hydro-electric projects must open training centres here to train the local unemployed youth so as to engage them on technical jobs”, he demanded, adding, “employment opportunities for locals must be created while constructing hydro-electric projects in this belt.

PDP general secretary Thakur Balbir Singh, former Minister and MLA Abdul Gaffar Sofi, Abdul Ahad Wani, Farooq Mir, Shoukat Daing, Imtiyaz Khandey, Shamshad Khan and others also addressed the function.
