Hardeep’s 75 helps President XI win tie | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 03: True skipper’s innings played by Hardeep Singh today powered President XI to surpass Treasurer XI total in the two-day league tie of the ongoing President Cup, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here. Struggling at 69 for five in reply to 207 runs made by Treasurer XI, the Hardeep led side played patiently in rest of the game today to chase the total making 223 runs in 77.4 overs losing all their wickets in the process. Turbaned middle order batsman, Hardeep played skipper’s knock contributing 74 (off 107 balls, 7x4, 2x6) runs to the total. Came to the crease at a time when team was struggling, Hardeep with Pankaj Sasun (19) at the other end resumed their innings on a positive note. However, Pankaj lost his wicket but Hardeep continued to add runs with Vishwajeet Singh (25) and Radhey Sham (27) to attain the ultimate goal. From Treasurer XI, Ajit Pal Singh was most successful bowler, who took three wickets, followed by Inderjeet Singh and Guru Partap Singh with two each. Earlier, Treasurer XI won the toss and decided to bat first made 207 runs in 67.4 overs. Vimarsh Kaw and Inderjeet Singh were main contributors with 54 and 50 runs respectively. From President XI, Vijay Dogra clinched seven wickets thereby reduced opponent to a small total.
