| Lord Paul to provide funds for scholarships at Lahore | | | LONDON, NOV 26 NRI industrialist Lord Swraj Paul has instituted three scholarships in memory of his daughter Ambika at his alma mater in Lahore, Forman Christian College. Lord Paul, Chancellor of the Wolverhampton and Westminster Universities in the UK, will provide cost of full tuition for three selected students of Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science of the College under the Ambika Paul Scholarships on an annual basis. The British Ambassador for Overseas Business is one of the three leading personalities who were conferred the 'Distinguished Formanite Award' earlier this year by the College for his "entrepreneurial spirit" that led to the founding of the Caparo Group, the largest family-owned business in Britain and his leadership within the business community. The College was founded by Dr Charles William Forman. He was the founder of the Rang Mahal School in Lahore, the first English-speaking school in the region. This school added a college department in 1865 which was later known as Forman Christian College. Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf is an alumna of the college. Other well known alumni included former Indian Prime Minister I K Gujral, former President of Pakistan Farooq Ahmed Leghari and former Prime Minister of Pakistan Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. |
