Jammu, July 3: After keeping the matter of some changes at the organisational changes shelved for some time, BJP high command finally effected minor reshuffle in some states including J&K which will have two new functionaries as incharge and co incharge. Veteran party leader and former minister Jagdish Mukhi has replaced OP Kohli as incharge (Prabhari) while as RP Singh has been replaced by Dr Anil Jain, also a senior leader , as co Incharge (Seh Prabhari). In the backdrop of the turbulence faced by the J&K unit of the party, both the new functionaries are confronted with challenging tasks ahead, in addition to their routine roles and responsibilities.
Even though this change in at least these two functionaries, who are always appointed by the party high command from outside the state, was on cards for quite some time, their appointment at this point of time is being seen as a step to 'set right' certain things that went wrong and bring in some order withing the cadres. In order to rejuvenate the party afresh, the two senior leaders are expected to arrive in Jammu soon and take up the issues and address them on priority.
The first thing they would take up is to follow up the report of the Central Party Disciplinary Action Commitee report with regard to six suspended MLAs which has been finalised and stands submitted to national president Nitin Gadkari. The latter is expected to go through it soon and send it for follow up action thfor J&K in at will taken up by the new incharge and co charge, sources said. The two new funtionaries shall also take up the issue of visa denial to chief spokesperson and national executive member Dr Jitender Singh in the sense that they would discuss it threadbare and see what follow up steps need to be taken with the American embassy to know the reasons for denying visa to Dr Singh. The functionaries would also discuss what should be the response and devise the strategy as to how such issues need handling in future, if confronted by the party leadership with the concerned authorities.
However, most significant task that awaits the new Prabhari and Seh Prabhari is to check the growing groupism in the party and bring the state unit of party from the mess that prevails at present and has increased ever since the issue of cross voting erupted followed by critical developments that brought down the image of the party to lowest ebb. How both the leaders would take up and address these challenges in new role remains to be seen.
