Burglars target house of Azad's niece, Police Inspector | Gold worth 1.5 Lakh, valuables, clothes stolen in Bhatindi | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jul 3: In a rare demonstration of confidence, burglars last night broke into the house of the union Minister of Health and former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad's niece whose husband is a Police Inspector posted in J&K Police Headquarters. Informed sources revealed to Early Times that late last night unknown burglars broke into the house of Mr Azad's niece, Mala Shehnaz, in the high security Bhatindi area of Jammu city and decamped with gold, other valuables, including utencils and clothes. A supervisor in the state Social Welfare Department, Mala happens to be the daughter of Azad's elder brother late Haji Ghulam Qadir Bhat. Her husband, Aijaz Ahmed Bhat, is an Inspector in J&K Armed Police, currently posted at Police Headquarters in Srinagar. Sources said that the house was completely unoccupied as Mala was these days with her husband in Srinagar. Aijaz Bhat's brother, Mohammad Aslam Bhat, is also a Dy Superintendent of Police, currently posted as SDPO in Kargil. The houseowner lodged a report with Police Station Trikuta Nagar that registered an FIR after an interaction with incharge of Police Post Bhatindi, SI Mehmood Khan today. The complainant mentioned in the application that the stolen articles and goods included gold ornaments worth Rs 1.50 lakh that belonged to Mala Shehnaz. The stolen articles were valued at Rs 2 lakhs. Interestingly, this time burglars have struck in the high security Bhatindi area which happens to be residential colony of union Ministers, including Dr Farooq Abdullah, a number of Cabinet ministers of J&K State, including Forest Minister Mian Altaf Ahmed, besides a large number of high ranking bureaucrats, government officials, legislators, Members of Parliament, judges of High Court, senior journalists and businesspersons.
