Messy conditions on NH affects flow of Vaishno Devi pilgrims
Roads choked, prompt action of authorities elusive

EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, July 3: Mess in forward movement of Amarnath Yatra on the National Highway has indeed affected the flow and momentum of the Yatris of this holy pilgrimage. On the third consecutive day today as Yatra was not allowed, the messy scenario of vehicles propelled chaos on the general traffic, severly affecting the flow of Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims. Instead of providing any relief, the government agencies aggravated the tension and nerves in what could be seen as gross mismanagement and mishandling of unprecented rush on the road.
Eyewitness accounts said as the traffic of vehicles remained stranded on the roads, some vehicle owners in desperate bid to make some forward movement 'managed' it with consent of traffic and police officials. This triggerred the trouble as this selective movement instead of solving any problem and providing any relief aggaravated the chaos and in fact caused anarhic conditions with no room left for vehicles of otehr adjacnet routes.
This waywardness and haphazard movement of the vehicles jammed and affected the movement of the Vaishno Devi Yatries on account of which very less number of pilgrims managed to reach Katra during the day , sources said. The number of Mata vaishno Devi pilgrims who had Darshans in the holy cave during the last two days was over 40,000. In contrast to this huge and heavy rush, which in normal cicrumstances woudl have remained same or even increased , was nearly three times less today, reliable sources in Katra said. There was gross mismanagement of trafiic aand vehicular movement on the Highway beyond Nagrota and it remained almost choked upto the point of diverison towards Domail, said some pilgrims adding that senior authorities neither from administration nor police and traffic remained conspicuous by their absence nor was any prompt action seen from their end.
