Govt draws flak for prevailing mess on Amarnath yatra | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 3: The State Government has come under a severe criticism for the prevailing mess on Amarnath yatra with various Hindu organizations blaming the Government and Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) for the same. The rigidity of the Government not to start the yatra on June 15 coinciding with Jesh Purnima which was the traditional date of yatra has been one of the main causes of the increasing rush of the pilgrims, said Khem Raj a senior VHP leader who has been brain behind organizing the Amarnath and Buda Amarnath pilgrimage during nineties when terrorists had openly threatened these yatras in the state.
He, while expressing dismay over the failure of Government and the Shrine Board in making proper arrangements for the stranded pilgrims in Jammu and other places on national Highway and the Pahalgam and Baltal tracks said had the yatra been started on June 15 the major rush would have decreased by now.
He said weather was all pleasant from June 15 to June 30 and over two lakh yatris would have performed darshan at holy cave by now.
The VHP leader said it is strange that the Baord remained adman on not opening the tracks to yatra before June 29 knowing fully that the Monsoon would touch state by first week of July hampering the movement of yatra. |
