| 4000 KP families want to return back | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, July 4 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has received 4000 applications from migrant Pandit families for their return to the Valley.
Confirming it, Relief Commissioner, Vinod Koul told KNS that nearly 4000 families have applied for returning to the Valley.
“Government is serious in rehabilitating migrant families in Kashmir and has already announced a package for the return of migrant Pandits. They would be provided all the facilities under the package if they return,” he said.
However, the Relief Commissioner said, any family who returns under the package will have to surrender ‘migrant status.’ “They can’t be entitled for both and have to surrender migrant status. After their return they will be entitled for facilities under return package,” he added.
Kashmir Migrants and Rehabilitation Welfare Society President Ashok Raina had alleged that government wasn’t serious in return of KPs.
Reacting to Raina’s allegations, the Relief Commissioner alleged that most of the migrant families were not serious to return. “Some migrants want to come to the Valley in summer months just to avoid heat of Jammu. Those who are serious to return are welcome,” he said. (KNS)
