| Four Armymen killed in Pulwama encounter | | |
SRINAGAR, NOV 25
Four army jawans and a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant were killed today in a fierce encounter in Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir, defence sources said.
Army had cordoned off village Neldura in Shopian area, 65 kms from here, last night and started search operations in the wee hours today, the sources said.
The security forces came under fire from militants around 0500 hours in which two jawans were killed on the spot while two others sustained serious injuries, the sources said.
In the ensuing gunbattle, one LeT militant was shot dead. The operation was on till last reports came in.
The sources said the injured jawans were evacuated to army base hospital here where they succumbed to their injuries. |
