NPSU agitation enters 4th day
7/4/2011 10:44:21 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 4: Responding to the call given by Young Panthers and National Panther students union (NPSU) for indefinite agitation against state as well as center government for their apathetic attitude towards the Jammu province for opening of the central University for Jammu and against the closer of evening colleges of Jammu province, on fourth consecutive day, NPSU held massive protest demonstration at GGM Science College and Commerce College, Jammu.
Earlier, the activists of NPSU gathered at GGM Science College where they interacted with the admission seekers of the Evening College.
The NPSU leaders were told by the admission seekers that they are being forced by the college authorities to take admissions in the morning shift of the GGM Science College and admission to some of the female students was refused by the college authorities and were told by them to seek admission in Women Colleges of city where also they were refused by the authorities.
The activists of NPSU got irate on this and entered the college premises where the admission process was going on and held strong protest demonstration there which forced the college authorities to stop the admission process.
Addressing the gathering, Partap Singh Jamwal (Provincial President NPSU) and Sahil Choudhary (leader NPSU), who were leading the protest said that on one hand the government is pledging for education to every individual and on the other hand the government is spoiling the career of those students who are in dying need of evening colleges.
The government is opening new colleges in far flung areas which may take time to get established whereas already established two evening colleges are closed by the government which is unjustified.
Abhey Sharma (Provincial Vice President NPSU) told the administration that NPSU will not at all allow the college authorities to start the admission process in the college until and unless the admissions for the evening shift students are opened.
They said that the students are on the agitation path since many days but got no response from the side of government which is unfortunate and told that NPSU is planning to intensify the agitation to break the slumber of the government that are in deep sleep.
Other prominent leaders of NPSU who were present on the occasion include Rawat Singh Manhas, Ashutosh, Rahul Ghai, Yogesh Talwar, Aman Singh, Vishal Sadotra, etc.
