Six more die during Amarnath Yatra

srinagar, July 4: Six more pilgrims including two women died of natural causes at various halting stations en route Amarnath cave shrine, raising the death toll during the ongoing yatra to 18, officials said on Monday. While four of the deceased were from Uttar Pradesh, one person was a resident of Gujarat. The identity of the sixth is yet to be established, they said.Giving break-up, they said one Kailash Nand, a resident of UP, died of cardiac arrest after paying obeisance at the 3,880 metre high holy cave this morning. Indu Srivastava, Gandhi Baba and Anil Gupta, all UP residents, died of heart attack between Sheshnag and the holy cave, officials said. 34-year-old U Solanki of Gujarat died of heart failure at the holy cave last night. The annual pilgrimage began from both Pahalgam and Baltal routs on June 29 and so far over one lakh pilgrims had "darshan" of the naturally formed ice-lingam at the cave shrine.
