Jammu, July 4: By replacing both Incharge and Co inharge for state unit ,the BJP High command has not only taken steps on the proverbial lines of 'killing two birds with one stone' but also sent a message down the cadres : groupism or tendency to show inclination towards groups and individuals rather than the organisation won't be taken casually.
While the replacement of erstwhile Incharge or Prabhari OP Kohli was long pending step in the backdrop of his appointment at national level as incharge central affairs of the party , co incharge RP singh's replacement being seen in the party circles as 'unceremonious' removal from the post . OP Kohli who remained incharge of the J&K unit for over two years was relieved of this responsibility by giving him a bigger role at the headquarter level. In other words Kohli was promoted to next higher post , therefore making his replacement from J&K post imperative and a mandatory step.
What has raised some eyebrows and triggred whisphers in the rank and file of the J&K unit of BJP is RP SIngh's replacement which many say was not imperative. That his replacement is being seen as removal and detaching him from any role in the J&K after over three years has reasons to substatiate. While Kohli has been given new and bigger responsibility , on the contrary RP Singh has neither been given any task nor adjusted on similar lines. There are strong indications that he too never expressed his willingness to get relieved of the responsibilty entrusted to him much before the 2008 Assembly elections.
Sources within the party say that there was resentment in some quarters against the way Seh Prabhari would conduct himself under certain crucial and critical circumstances party faced during recent past, allegely contrary to the fair and neutral manner the post demanded him to do his job. The reports of resentment, according to sources reached high command, which necessiated his replacement too from the seh prabhari post.
As for the new funtionaries, even as the names are not much prominent nor known in J&K, the duo are considered to be fit in the present scenario and circumstances party is faced with in the state. Both are said to be hardliners and strict disciplinarians and therefore expected to deliver objectively and in a neutral manner in the unit which is confronted with the acute problem of groupism and lobbies. Both Prabhari and Seh Prabhari are expected to first study and then take follow up actions in a fair and prompt manner in the matters that lie stagnant and unattended. |
