Three days annual Sarthal Yatra from Friday.
Sarthal Devi management called on DC Kishtwar.

Kishtwar July 5:- Three days annual Sarthal Devi Yatra will commence from Friday 8th of July 2011 from Kishtwar and concludes at the temple of Mata Ashta Dash Bhuja" i.e. Goddess with eighteen arms, at Sarthal Kishtwar generally known as Mata Sarthal Devi Ji on 10th of July 2011 after performing Puja and havan inside the temple. The temple is located some 25 Kilometers from District Headquarter Kishtwar. During these three days thousands of devotees get the blessings and solace after paying their obeisance. Dash Bhuja Mata an incarnation of Mata Durga has been the chief deity of the Hindus of Kishtwar and its adjacent areas from ancient time. Sarthal Devi Ji Management Kishtwar under the leadership of its Vice Chairman Thakur Jughal Bhandari along with other members of the management meet with Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hussain Malik and others officers of district administration Kishtwar and held elaborated discussion regarding availability of transportation, electricity, Drinking Water, availability of ration and other related matters regarding the final arrangement for 3 days annual Yatra.

The holy temple in the present form was got constructed by Maharaja Hari Singh in 1936-37.
is situated at an altitude of about 6000 feet’s above the sea level and was surrounded by beautiful mountains ranges, lush green fields, vegetation and charming surroundings. The holy site is neighbored by a cluster of villages and habitations like Agral Sarthal proper, Lawa, Karool etc. having a good population of both Muslim as well as Hindus. Thousands of yatries from different parts of the State throng the shrine almost throughout the year to pay their obeisance and get the blessing of Mata for their well-being and prosperity.
The month of July every year witnesses the heavy rush and excitement of pilgrims and devotees who come in streams to visit the shrine to get the blessings, as it is in this month of July when Sarthal Devi Management Committee Kishtwar under "Dharamarth Trust Jammu" organizes a Shoba Yatra with Holy Mace on Harshudi Saptami (7th day of bright fortnight of "Ashaar Month, which starts from Shri Gouri Shanker Temple Sarkoot Kishtwar and goes upto holy shrine of Mata Sarthal Devi Ji with great pomp and show.
