Akhoon inspects Baltal base camp, reviewed facilities | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT BALTAL (SONAMARG), July 5: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Qamar Ali Akhoon today visited Yatra Base Camp at Baltal and took stock of the facilities being provided to the Amarnath yatries.
Minister also chaired a meeting of the officers of all the departments camped at Baltal Base Camp and convened to reviewed the arrangements made by the Government for smooth conduct of yatra.
On this occasion, the Minster was appraised that 2200 quintals of Rice, 1300 quintals of Sugar and 2200 quintals of Atta have been kept available by the CA&PD department for yatries. He was further informed that 660 LPG Gas cylinders besides 8000 litres of Kerosene Oil are also available to fullfill the requirements.
The Minister was informed that 30,000 devotees have performed yatra via Baltal route so far.
Akhoon stressed upon the officers to provide better facilities to the yatries so that message of composite culture of Kashmir should reach to other states of the country through these devotees. The Minister enjoined upon them to keep close coordination to ensure smooth and successful yatra.
Akhoon went around the stalls of all the departments particularly Health Department and CA&PD Depot and assessed the facilities being provided to the devotees. He also inspected the Langars and took stock of quality of eatable items being provided to the yatries. The Minister interacted with yatries arrived from Pune, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh who appreciated the arrangements made by the State Government. Earlier, the Minister inspected CA&PD stores at Gund and Kullan. The meeting was attended by DIG Traffic, Vijay Kumar, Director CA&PD Kashmir Abdul Wahid Tak, RTO Kashmir Anees Ahmed, SP Ganderbal Imtiyaz Ahmed and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal who is also Yatra Officer at Baltal Mohammad Ashraf Shuntoo and other officers deployed for duty by various departments at Baltal. |
