| Pilgrims to get every facility during Amarnath Yatra: Udhampur Adm | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, July 4 –
Elaborate arrangements have been put in place by the District Administration Udhampur for ensuring smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra and also to facilitate the pilgrims- enroute from Tikri to Patnitop.
Sufficient arrangements for the hassle-free Yatra have been made under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Baseer Ahmed Khan. These include drinking water and power supply at the already identified locations of stay in case of bad weather, sanitation, lodging and langar facilities, medicare, traffic and security arrangements etc. A special control room at district level has been setup in the PWD Dak Banglow with Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) as its Nodal Officer, besides additional control room for the convenience of the yatris have also been setup at police station Tikri and Chenani with respective Tehsildars as incharge of the same.To meet out any medical emergency health department have been fully geared to provide adequate medical facilities at Tikri, Rehmble, Udhampur, Chenani and Kud with ambulances at Tikri, Udhampur and Chenani. In view of any contingency, the administration has already identified adequate accommodation for accommodating as many as 5000 pilgrims at different locations in Udhampur Town and National Highway enroute Tikri to Patnitop. Besides additional arrangements have also been made at Kalra College of Education by pass road, Udhampur to halt the yatris.
To ensure the quality and rates of eatables and other essential commodities during the yatra period, especially along the National Highway, the special checking squads of CA&PD, Legal Meteorology and Municipality are conducting regular checking of the markets to ensure that there is no overcharging by the shopkeepers.
The Civil Defence Organization, Udhampur has kept the services of 40 Civil Defence volunteers at the disposal of SSP, Udhampur for assisting in the smooth conduct of the yatra and to meet any emergency.
The Assistant commissioner Revenue has been designated as the Yatra Officer for Amarnath Yatra arrangement in the district while as Tehsildar Territorial, Udhampur and Tehsildar Chenani are the nodal officers within their respective jurisdiction during the yatra days.
