EARLY TIMES REPORT Ramnagar, July 5: Taking a vengeful potshot at the local administration and its various field agencies and wings, R. S. Pathania, senior vice-president, Pradesh Youth Congress, has accused it of exploiting, discriminating and victimizing the SCs, STs and other weaker sections of society in Ramnagar. While citing the recent case of electrification in SC habitations, Bageil and Maloi of Ladana village, Pathania said that administration and local police are forcing the people over there to plug out already planted poles and plant them at other non-SC locations. Whereas it has been in another case at Chor Panjian village, some six years back, that poles meant for SC habitations were forcibly taken away by the sarpanch and retained at his place. No efforts have been made till now to retrieve those poles and the SC habitations are still without electricity. Pathania further accused the administration of working under political pressure. It has become consistent practice in Ramnagar that at every government functions, SC/STs are unnecessarily being taunted and teased. He also added that habitations inhabited by SCs, STs and other weaker sections in Ramnagar are languishing for want of road connectivity, provision of drinking water, electricity, human and animal healthcare, development of agriculture, horticulture and sericulture, tourism promotion, educational facilities, employment avenues etc. the area is lagging far behind. He further accused that there are inherent handicaps and discrepancies in the planning as well execution part of centrally-sponsored schemes like PMGSY, UIDSSMT, RGGVY, MGNREGA, IHSDP, IAY, SSA, NRHM, NABARD and ADB-funded projects, IWDP, etc. in Ramnagar. Hundreds of crores have been pumped in Ramnagar but true goods of these schemes have not percolated upto the grassrootslevel. Worse-more, beneficiaries of these schemes are being selected on political considerations thereby debarring the actually-deserving people of their true benefits. Prominent among other who were present in the meeting included Tilak Raj, Jagmohan, Virender Singh, Sukhdev, Raj Kumar, Mansukh, Yog Raj, Shiv Ram (all sarpanches), Sant Ram, Govind Ram, Romesh Kumar, Mohd. Akbal, Makhanu Devi, Bimla Devi, Shanti Devi, Vidya Devi, Sandla Devi, Bishan Dass, Baldev Singh, Mansa Ram Kharka and Faquir Chand.
