| Pvt TV channels should have own code of conduct: Mhaiskar | | | Mumbai: Private TV channels should take the initiative to prepare their own code of conduct, Maharashtra government's Publicity Department chief Manisha Patankar- Mhaiskar has said.
"Maharashtra government is willing to take the initiative. The private channels should respond to it positively," Mhaiskar said at the 'Mahacharcha' programme organised by Mumbai Doordarshan recently, according to an official release.
Viewers in the country would surely welcome such a code of conduct formulated by private channels, she said.
Maharashtra government chief secretary D K Shankaran, who also participated in the programme, also supported such a code of conduct for private TV channels.
Mumbai Doordarshan Kendra director Mukesh Sharma said the government has taken initiative on the issue as private channels have so far not created any "self-control mechanism".
