EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, July 5:
Urging to extend the outreach of Sher- e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Scheme Programme for Youth (SKEWPY) to the rural areas for equitable distribution of its multifaceted benefits, the Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather today called for conducting an extensive entrepreneurship potential survey at district level for laying a sound and strong enterprise base in the State.
Speaking at the 2nd meeting of Employment Facilitation Agency (EFA) at Civil Secretariat, Srinagar today, Rather called for close coordination between the employment department, J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) and the J&K Bank to derive maximum benefits out of the SKEWPY adding that any kind of laxity in this regard would not be tolerated.
The meeting held a threadbare discussion on pace of construction on District Employment Counseling Centers in each district of the State, performance of Voluntary Service Allowance (VSA) and seed Capital Fund Scheme and other employment generation initiatives.
Rather asked the J&K Bank to ensure that each entrepreneur, whose DPR is submitted for lending, is provided loan facility within 3 months as per its MOU so that the youth are able to set-up their enterprise without any difficulty.
He also directed the J&KEDI to keep regular monitoring of the Seed Capital Fund Scheme and ensure that the entrepreneurs’ set-up their units at ground.
Rather said the State Government is shortly launching Employment Exchanges Mission Mode Project (EEMMP) at a cost of about Rs. 65 crore to integrate web postals at Centra and State level adding that the scheme will provide a very big basket of employment at the national level, from which our educated unemployed youth can choose the appropriate job. The funding for the project shall be 75:25 between Centre and the State Government.
Minister for Higher Education while speaking on the occasion, Abdul Gani Malik suggested to involve concerned district development Commissioners and divisional Commissioners to settle land dispute cases regarding construction of District Employment and Counseling Centers.
