9 policemen injured in IED blast | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, July 6 (KNS): Nine policemen were injured when militants set off an improvised explosive device (IED) near a police station in north Kashmir Sopore town on Wednesday, police said. Minutes before the blast, the militants carried out a grenade attack on the police station. A police spokesperson said condition of four of the injured policemen, including three special police officers, was critical. Critically injured policemen including Constable Farooq Ahmed, SPOs Fayaz Ahmed, Mohammad Ramzan and Mohammad Marifat were rushed to Srinagar for specialized treatment. Reports said the militants carried out the attack in the town at around 9 am when they fired a rifle grenade towards the police station. The grenade exploded in the premises of the police station without causing any casualty or damage. As the policemen came out, the militant triggered an IED planted in a scooter parked near the police station ten minutes later, injuring nine policemen.
