JKCA elections fake, fraudulent: Ex-Chairman
7/6/2011 10:39:20 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 06: Former chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Ashutosh Sharma today termed the recently held elections of the cricket body as fake and fraudulent.
Talking to mediapersons here this afternoon, he alleged that the JKCA held the elections at its headquarters in Srinagar without appointing a neutral `returning officer’ thus violated the basics of the laid down constitutions of this sports body.
“To help his party leader and `blue eyed’ individual, Mohd Aslam Goni to pick up his team of `yes men’, Union Minister, Farooq Abdullah has completely violated the constitution of the JKCA to rule the cricket body in the state,” angry Ashutosh said.
Highlighting the denial of entry to as many as nine deserving members from Jammu based clubs of ICC, FCC, SCC, JCC, NCC and KCCC (owned by outgoing working president, Ramesh Mahajan), another working committee member, Des Rattan Dubey said, “JKCA president, Farooq Abdullah and his team of selected individuals pay no attention to the directions from State High Court, so we have decided to move to the Supreme Court to highlight our plight.”
He further alleged that the recently conducted elections were just to hide the financial bungling by Association chairman, Mohd Aslam Goni during his last term.
Another victim of the JKCA self-style functioning, secretary of ICC, Rakesh Kumar named the new body as Kashmir centric thereby calling it `Kashmir Cricket Association’ instead of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.
He said, “The members of the central body, including president, chairman, general secretary and treasurer, either belong to Kashmir or have inclination to that region of the state only, so we no hesitation in calling the present body as KCA (Kashmir Cricket Association) in place of JKCA.”
Among over 30 members present, were former vice-chairman, Rahul Bharati and former joint secretary, Sunit Sharma.
